THE DETAILS

Archery stills the mind and connects us with our focus and will. Running brings us into alignment with our core strength and vitality as we do what our bodies were designed to do.

In this program we bring the two together.

We will build a supportive circle, sharing our experience with the group as we challenge ourselves and experience new growth.

The mythological goddess archetypes of the huntress Artemis will inform our training. We will draw on the therapeutic principles of Somatic Psychology to learn to integrate our mind, body, and spirit in new ways.

Our meetings will be entirely outside, and the final meeting will be a running archery race 5 Kilometers in length with 5 archery targets.

Who is this for?

This program is for marginalized genders (women, trans people, and nonbinary people).  You need to be 18 or older.

Do I need to be an archer? Or a runner?

No experience in archery or running is necessary and all archery equipment will be provided.

You do not need to be in peak physical condition to join this program, but you should be able to confidently start a physical conditioning program without jeopardizing your health. It is always advisable to talk to your health care provider before starting a new exercise routine.

Colleen will provide you with a suggested training routine, in addition to the runs we do together. If you prefer to walk during workouts, that is welcome too.

Our emphasis is on feeling power and energized in your own body, not on competition.

The program is focused on using the sports of running and target archery for personal growth and self-understanding.

Where is it?

We meet in Worcester, Vermont, and will contact you with the exact location after you register.

When is it?

Every Sunday morning from 9:30 to 12pm, from May 12 to June 16, 2024.  NO CLASS ON MAY 26.

The first meeting will last two extra hours because we will be working on a special project.

We understand that you are busy, but barring emergencies, please do not miss more than 1 to 2 meetings during the course.

How much is it?

This program is an adventure-based Group Therapy program. As such, we can bill your health insurance company or Medicaid for most of the cost of the program. Please contact us for details about your specific insurance coverage.

If you are billing your insurance, you also need to pay a $85 equipment fee to reserve your place in the class, which covers 6 arrows and quiver-making materials (both yours to keep).

If you prefer to pay out-of-pocket, the cost for this five-week program is $200, plus the $85 equipment fee.

Note: The equipment fee is not refundable, but we can give you credit towards other Mountainsong Expeditions classes if you let us know you need to cancel your enrollment before the first day of class. After the first day of class, no credit can be given.

Our Covid Policy

  • Stay home if you are sick or have been directly exposed
  • Masks are not required, but you are welcome to wear one if you choose. The program is 100% outdoors.
  • We do not require vaccination, but we strongly encourage it.

I really liked the vocabulary that was used to explain the archery technique. The concepts like seeking 'stability' rather than 'instability' in my form felt like they could apply to all different parts of my life. Specifically, I appreciated understanding that there will be fluctuations in accuracy while beginning to incorporate more stable techniques. I thought about these concepts a lot while I was running with the group today.

“I was pretty doubtful that I could get out of the house leaving a small baby every week and I was even more doubtful that I could run 5K. I had no previous experience with archery so I was a little nervous about that too.

Turns out I made it to every class, I mostly ran 5K by the end of the seven weeks and I found a new sport that I love...archery! Colleen and Murphy are super supportive and fun. I would certainly recommend this class to other women!”
