The Honorable Tree Harvest:
Ax Skills, Reciprocity, and Cultivating a Land-Based Spirituality
with Murphy Robinson and Steve Byers
February 3-4, 2018 near Belfast Maine
- How can we be in reciprocal relationship with the plants and trees we harvest?
- How can we practice consent between humans and wild plants?
- What does it mean to harvest plants and trees on a colonized continent?
In this weekend workshop, wilderness skills instructor Murphy Robinson will teach us how to split, buck, fell, and limb trees with an ax. Clinical herbalist Steve Byers will teach us about the herbal uses of local trees and holistic harvest practices. As we mindfully fell a tree together, we will explore the role of honorable harvesting in crafting a land-based spirituality that reconnects us to the places where we live. The workshop is open to adults of all genders, and teens may attend if a parent or guardian is present.
Sliding Scale $150-$225, locally-sourced hot lunches included.
